Silk Crepe Shirt in Rust and Brown Check
Once sold, the edition is closed.
The rust and brown check began with a specific image: a woman in an African studio portrait, a bold rust-and-gold check skirt across her lap, a printed paisley top above — two patterns occupying the same frame with complete confidence in the combination. The check itself draws from a longer history: the grid structure recurs across Scottish woven cloth traditions and East African textile history simultaneously, arriving at the same formal solution by different routes. Archive I does not separate those strands. They belong to the same conversation.
On silk crepe satin, the check gains a surface quality that woven cloth cannot have — a subtle sheen that changes with the light, the cloth moving differently in each direction. The shirt is cut straight with a pointed collar and concealed fastening. Precise at the cuff. Light drape through the sleeve.
Designed to be worn as a complete set with the Silk Twill Trousers in Rust and Brown Check, or standalone over a contrasting trouser. Bespoke engraved tortoiseshell button, commissioned from a Parisian artisan button maker.
Limited to 30 editions.
