Ribbed Cotton Tank in Black
Once sold, the edition is closed.
Two images anchored the tank in Archive I's reference material. The first: a tennis player at full extension on a clay court in the 1970s, a white Lacoste sleeveless top, her shadow stretching behind her across the court lines. The second: an Olympic torch bearer in a white athletic vest, mid-stride at the opening ceremony, carrying a flame. Both are images of a garment that does not interfere with what the body is doing. The tank resolves precisely because it asks nothing.
In black cotton with elastane, the compact rib holds the body without force — close but not tight, the structure of the knit doing the work. The column dresses and tailored mini board contributed the logic of the clean armhole and the unfussy neckline: a silhouette that functions as a base for everything else in the collection. Under the corset jacket, under the cashmere, with the pinstripe trouser or the wide-leg silk. The piece that is always present.
