The floral is knitted in, at the scale of a printed cotton day dress — legible as texture from across a room and as pattern only to someone standing near enough to see it. That distinction matters. Where the gameboard grid announces itself, the floral withholds, and the two operate as opposing registers within the same archive.
The printed day dress recurs throughout the reference material: eyelet cotton on a red road, small repeating florals photographed in gardens and outside studios, cloth chosen for daily use and worn with complete self-possession. It is not a ceremonial textile and was never intended to be an heirloom, which is precisely why it becomes one. The camisole holds that idea in a piece cut close to the ribcage with a straight edge across the bust and a narrow strap set to leave the shoulder open — a garment for warm weather that reads equally as an underlayer beneath the cardigan or as the whole statement on its own.
